The calendar below highlights our year-round programming for current program participants. WSLB programs accept new participant applications every Fall.

  • Writing Weekend

    The Writing Weekend is a virtual event aimed at supporting Washington World Fellows (WWF) seniors in the preparation of their college application essays. This initiative is designed to empower program participants by providing them with essential resources and guidance as they work diligently on their writing.

  • Washington Leadership Awards

    The Washington Leadership Awards (WLA) is a prestigious recognition program that has proudly celebrated excellence since 1975. As one of the few trustee agencies authorized by state statute, the WSLB is honored to officially bestow these significant awards on behalf of the state. Each winter, we host a grand ceremony to recognize and honor our remarkable awardees.

  • Day on the Hill

    Day on the Hill (DOTH) is an important event that brings program participants together to engage directly with board members, elected officials, and legislators. During this gathering, attendees share insights on WSLB’s mission, highlight organizational accomplishments, and discuss future initiatives. This event fosters meaningful connections and increases awareness of the organization's goals and impact.

  • Student Advocacy Summit

    The Student Advocacy Summit is a powerful student-run gathering where Washington World Fellows (WWF) Domestic Advocates and other student groups come together to amplify student voices on pressing issues. The summit facilitates direct engagement between participants and their local government. Through this event, participants gain practical advocacy skills and learn to navigate legislative channels to drive meaningful change.

    Event Recap

    Program Celebration Day is an event dedicated to honoring the achievements of our WSLB program participants. On this occasion, we reflect on the hard work, dedication, and milestones achieved by individuals who have completed their journey within the WSLB program. In addition to celebrating past accomplishments, the event serves as a welcoming forum for the newest cohort of program participants.

  • Compassion Scholars Trip to Spain

    SPRING

    Apr 2 - Apr 13, 2025

    Compassion Scholars and their Mentors travel to Spain to partner with World Fellows España. There, they explore critical global issues through immersive service learning projects. Upon returning, the Scholars will apply their newfound skills and insights to launch impactful service initiatives back in Washington state.

  • College Bootcamp

    SUMMER

    WSLB’s College Bootcamp is a week-long immersive experience designed to support program participants in their journey toward higher education. During this week, program participants visit a variety of colleges across WA state, gaining perspective on college life and campus size preferences. In addition to campus visits, participants receive guidance on college applications, work on application essays, and prepare financial aid materials, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to succeed in the college admissions process.

  • Washington World Fellows (WWF) Domestic Advocates Summer Exchange

    SUMMER

    June 24 - July 18, 2025

    During the summer between their junior and senior years, fellows will take part in our Domestic Program. This immersive experience includes the study of the Spanish Language, cultural integration through living with Spanish peers, and engaging in a variety of activities related to academic and college preparation and cross-cultural exchange.Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in a civic education course designed by the WSLB. They will also be given assistance in finding ways to become involved in local and state government.

  • Washington World Fellows (WWF) International Ambassadors Homestay in Spain

    July 18 - Aug 23, 2025

    In the summer between their junior and senior years, Washington World Fellows (WWF) participants embark on an enriching college-level study abroad journey to Spain. This immersive program offers them the opportunity to explore the rich tapestry of Spanish history and language. By living with local families, they not only enhance their linguistic skills but also experience the vibrant culture firsthand, gaining a deeper appreciation for the customs, traditions, and daily life of the Spanish people.

  • International Student Summit

    The International Student Summit is a dynamic and impactful gathering organized by students, where Washington World Fellows (WWF) Domestic Advocates join forces with their World Fellows España counterparts to share and present their joint project on their summer filled with cultural experiences.

  • Monthly Leadership Meetings

    FALL-SUMMER

    WSLB’s Leadership Trainings provide monthly, focused sessions that help program participants build essential leadership skills. Each month, WSLB staff introduce one of the core pillars from our leadership curriculum, guiding participants through tools and practices to develop that specific leadership trait. With four meeting times offered each month, participants have the flexibility to attend a session that fits their schedule.

  • Monthly Academic Mentoring Meetings

    FALL - SUMMER

    WSLB’s Academic Mentoring offers monthly guidance to help program participants stay on track towards their educational and career goals. Each month, WSLB staff meet with program participants to discuss critical topics like scholarship opportunities, the college application process, and strategies for overcoming academic challenges. Staff offer four monthly sessions, in order to offer program participants flexibility to choose a meeting time that works with their schedule.

  • Boundless WA Monthly Cohort Meetings

    FALL - SUMMER

    Boundless WA’s monthly cohort meetings provide a time for program participants to connect with WSLB staff and peers while working on personal outdoor, leadership, and sports-related goals. In each session, participants review their progress, set new challenges, and explore the WSLB leadership trait of the month. These meetings also offer a valuable opportunity to strengthen group relationships.

  • Compassion Scholars Quarterly Cohort Meetings

    YEAR-ROUND

    The Compassion Scholars quarterly cohort meetings are a chance for scholars, mentors and WSLB staff to come together to share updates on each scholar’s service learning project. Held once per quarter, these gatherings provide a valuable opportunity for scholars to share updates, receive advice and gather feedback from peers and mentors.

    While scholars and mentors connect one-on-one each month, these quarterly meetings allow the full group to come together and foster a sense of community and collaboration.

  • Washington World Fellows (WWF) International Ambassadors Monthly Cohort Meetings

    FALL - SUMMER

    Washington World Fellows (WWF) International Ambassadors monthly cohort meetings bring program participants together for WSLB staff to share important program updates. These meetings outline monthly requirements and expectations, ensuring each participant stays on track.

    In the winter and spring, participants also connect with the cohort of Spanish participants that they will be living with. This provides a chance to build relationships and start working on their joint project for the WWF International Summit.
