  • Writing Weekend

    The Writing Weekend is a virtual event aimed at supporting WSLB seniors in preparing their college application essays. This initiative is designed to empower program participants by providing them with essential resources and guidance as they work diligently on their writing.

  • Annual Washington Leadership Awards

    Virtual Award Ceremony

    The Washington Leadership Awards (WLA) is a prestigious recognition program. As one of the few trustee agencies authorized by state statute, the WSLB is honored to officially bestow these significant awards on behalf of the state. Each year, we host a ceremony to recognize and honor our remarkable awardees.

  • Day on the Hill

    WINTER

    February 4, 2027

    Day on the Hill (DOTH) provides a unique opportunity for program participants to engage directly with board members, elected officials, and legislators. During this event, participants participate in scheduled meetings with legislators to discuss well-researched bills of interest.

  • Compassion Scholars Service-learning Trip

    SPRING

    Apr 2027

    Compassion Scholars and their Mentors travel internationally to explore critical global issues through immersive service learning projects. Upon returning, the Scholars will apply their newfound skills and insights to launch impactful service initiatives back in Washington state.

  • Program Celebration Day

    May 2027

    Program Celebration Day is an event dedicated to honoring the achievements of our WSLB program participants. On this occasion, we reflect on the hard work, dedication, and milestones achieved by individuals who have completed their journey within the WSLB program. In addition to celebrating past accomplishments, the event serves as a welcoming forum for the newest cohort of program participants.

  • Washington World Fellows (WWF) Homestay and Study Abroad

    SUMMER

    June - July 2027

    In the summer between their junior and senior years, Washington World Fellows (WWF) participants embark on an immersive international travel experience centered on global competency, leadership development, and Spanish language learning. While living with local families, participants explore global issues, participate in service learning projects, experience the culture firsthand, and dive into their personal leadership journey.

  • Compassion Scholars Monthly Cohort Meetings

    YEAR-ROUND

    The Compassion Scholars monthly cohort meetings are a chance for scholars, mentors and WSLB staff to come together to share updates on each scholar’s service learning project. These gatherings provide a valuable opportunity for scholars to share updates, receive advice and gather feedback from peers and mentors.

    During these meetings, WSLB staff incorporate the leadership and advocacy skills that are pillars of WSLB programming.

  • Washington World Fellows Monthly Cohort Meetings

    FALL - SUMMER

    Washington World Fellows (WWF) monthly cohort meetings bring program participants together to build connections, strengthen their cohort, and prepare for their international travel experience. Along with preparing for travel, each meeting integrates leadership development and advocacy training.
